Volume Four

Aston Villa, Leeds United and Manchester United have all touched down in Australia while Crystal Palace is beginning their pre-season tour in Singapore.

Leeds United

Have you driven along Fremantle’s famous Cappuccino Strip recently? It’s awash with white, blue and yellow as the City of Fremantle welcomes Leeds United ahead of ICON. Leeds United bunting hangs above the strip while posters hang on walls and large Leeds United decals cover the paving along the middle of the road.

While Leeds are yet to arrive in Perth, they have spent the last two days enjoying Queensland, with their 26-man squad having touched down in Australia on Tuesday.

On Wednesday night the Mighty Whites unveiled their new home kit for the 2022/23 Premier League season and will wear it for the first time on Thursday night in their friendly against the Brisbane Roar.The shirt pays homage to the 50th Anniversary of Leeds’ 1972 FA Cup winning side with the iconic LUFC script woven into the fabric of the shirt.

Manchester United

Manchester United has touched down in Melbourne ahead of their friendly against Melbourne Victory at the MCG on Friday night.

The Red Devils started their pre-season tour in style by beating Liverpool 4-0 on Tuesday night. Jadon Sancho, Fred, Anthony Martial and Facundo Pellistri all scored for Untied at Rajamangala Stadium, Thailand’s national stadium in Bangkok. New signing Tyrell Malacia made his first appearance after completing a move from Feyenoord last week.

Manchester United also debuted their new 2022/23 home kit in the game against Liverpool. The design features an eye-catching collar and is reminiscent of the iconic home shirt worn by United during their Treble season of 1999/2000.

Crystal Palace

The South London club has arrived in Singapore ahead of their friendly against Liverpool on Friday night. The Eagles have been busy training while also enjoying the sites of Singapore ahead of the match at Singapore National Stadium.

Following on from the unveiling of their away kit a fortnight ago, Crystal Palace revealed their 2022/23 home kit on Tuesday. The club’s trademark blue and red stripes are back but with a modern twist.

Similar to the lines on the away kit, the home shirt features a “graffiti-style” design, complimented by a white trim on the sleeves and neck.

Aston Villa

The Lions has arrived in Queensland ahead of their friendly against Leeds United on Sunday.

Villa beat League 2 side Walsall FC 4-0 in a friendly last Saturday and then jetted straight to Brisbane on the Sunday. Leon Bailey, Cameron Archer, Ollie Watkins and Douglas Luiz all netted for Steven Gerrard’s side at the Poudland Bescot Stadium.

Before heading off, Villa unveiled their 2022/23 Home Kit, which they wore for the first time in the win over Walsall. The kit is in line with the traditional home kit worn by Villa with a claret body and blue sleeves. There are subtle chevrons on the fabric that represent the honours won by the club over its history.

Meanwhile Swedish defender Ludwig Augustinsson has joined from Sevilla on a season-long loan while youngsters Louie Barry, Viljami Sinisalo and Finn Azaz have departed the club on loan.
