Volume One

With ICON just a month away from kicking off, we’re keeping a close eye on the latest news from all four clubs.

With the English Transfer window opening on July 1, two of the clubs have been busy signing players while one has been busy re-writing history.

Crystal Palace: the world’s oldest Professional football club?

Crystal Palace is staking its claim that it is the oldest league club in existence that is still playing professional football, after five years of painstaking research uncovered a new formation date.
The Eagles were initially thought to have been formed in 1905 when the professional Crystal Palace club was set up, but historian Peter Manning has found an unbroken link to the formation of a Crystal Palace team further back in 1861.
The Eagles have amended their logo to reflect the discovery.

Aston Villa: Stevie G’s Shrewd Moves

The Villans have been busy during this transfer window, with four players signing ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Loanees Philippe Coutinho and Robin Olsen have completed permanent moves to the club while Brazilian centre back Diego Carlos made a big money move from Spanish side Sevilla.
Manager Steven Gerrad made a shrewd piece of transfer business, securing exciting 22-year-old French midfielder Boubacar Kamara on a Free Transfer from Marseille.

Leeds United: United States of Leeds

Manager Jesse Marsch has wasted no time in bringing a few familiar faces into his squad ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Marsch has reunited with United States attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson and Danish defender Rasmus Kristensen, bringing both in from his former club Red Bull Salzburg.
The American managed both players during his time at the Austrian club where he won back-to-back League-Cup Doubles.
Leeds have also added Spanish midfielder Marc Roca to the squad after a deal was struck with German giants Bayern Munich.

Manchester United: All quiet on the Transfer Front

United hasn’t made much of a splash in the Transfer market… yet.
While Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba have all departed the club, the Red Devils are yet to bring any new faces in.
As per the club’s official site, there are a number of rumoured transfer targets for new manager Erik ten Hag.
Free Agent Christian Eriksen is reportedly weighing up his options with contact offers from United and Premier League rivals Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur.
Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, Roma forward Tammy Abraham and Porto forward Evanilson are also amongst the names mentioned in Transfer Rumours.
