Small businesses are big winners with more than 30 contracts awarded to Western Australian companies to supply food and consumables to Optus Stadium.
Two of these small businesses are New West Foods and Food Packaging Australia (FPA). Both are proudly family-owned and operated small businesses, based in Malaga in Perth’s north east.
New West Foods will distribute annually over 200 tonnes of frozen potato chips to the Stadium, 800,000 condiment portions and large volumes of West Australian seafood including prawns from Exmouth, barramundi from Derby and crabs from Geraldton.
Each year FPA will supply the Stadium food packaging with more than 500,000 hot chip containers, 200,000 burger boxes and 1.5 million beer cups.
The inhouse catering team at Optus Stadium will service 60,000 fans on major event days plus thousands more guests attending meetings, conferences, gala dinners and other special events throughout this world-class venue.
Alongside New West Foods and FPA, other Western Australian small businesses which have secured Stadium supply contracts include Little Home Bakery (bread), Morley Growers (fruit and vegetables), Total Food Distributors (meat), Mahogany Creek Distributors (poultry and game), Mondo Meats (meat) and Oil 2 U (oil).
Optus Stadium CEO Mike McKenna said the contracting of these businesses is testament to the quality of Western Australian products and produce available.

As a Western Australian venue I am delighted that we will be showcasing the products and services from so many local businesses. Ahead of the Stadium opening, over $150 million of contracts will be awarded to support the first five years of operations.

Optus Stadium will open with a free community Open Day on Sunday 21 January 2018, followed by the Gillette One-Day International between Australia and England on Sunday 28 January, an AFL Women’s match on 10 February, Ed Sheeran concerts on 2 and 3 March, the Perth NRL Double Header on 10 March, the opening round of the AFL Premiership Season on 25 March and Nitro Circus on 22 April 2018.
